Barnsley secured a three-two win over Colchester in League 1 on Saturday, with the Reds holding off a fightback from the home side having been three-up.

Conor Hourihane, with his latest goal of an impressive season (but for injury could have been even better) had Barnsley ahead early on with Adam Hammill adding the second before the break when he celebrated his new deal finishing off a Sam Winnall through ball.

Colchester had been denied a way back into the game by the crossbar at two-nil when Tom Eastman was the unfortunate one.

When Newcastle loanee Ivan Toney headed in the third on the hour that seemingly made sure of the points, however George Moncur got Colchester back into the game at the midway point off the second half with Chris Porter getting a second three-minutes later.

But the U’s couldn’t find an equaliser as Barnsley held on to move off the bottom of the table.
